The region’s sports structure embraces two stadiums including an urban one for 5,5 thousand places, 42 gyms, two training bases, a swimming pool, six mini-pools in preschool establishments, two children sports schools and two rowing bases.
Rogachev is known for its highly qualified athletes. Among them - an Olympic kayak champion /Munich 1972/, world and Europe’s champion, honored master of sports, honored coach of Belarus Nikolai Gorbachev, bronze winner at 1980 Olympics in Moscow Antonina Melnikova, USSR honored master of sports, three-time world champion, three Olympiads’ participant Sergei Kolesnik, participant of 2000 Olympics in Sidney, Europe’s champion, international master of sports Alesia Bakunova, international master of sports Viktor Vorobiev. Champions and world record-breakers were trained by USSR and Belarusian honored coaches N. Gavrilenko, V. Stanibula, V. Korolenko, G. Shishov. In different times representatives of the small Belarusian regional center T. Rychago, V. Krez, V. Borikov, A. Zuev won the World and European Championships.
Some 13 instructors are involved in the sports activity.
In 2004 the region trained 8 masters of sports and 12 master candidates; some 14 graduates from sports schools entered the republican college of the Olympic reserve and some 3 rovers and 5 handball players joined national teams of the Republic of Belarus.
